Reunion season is just around the corner. So, time to tighten up those 2018 New Year’s Resolutions and get ready because you’ll want to look your best, whether it’s five years, ten years, or twenty years since you wore that cap and gown and said goodbye to your teen years. Plastic surgery could be an option for some, but there are other ways you can look your best for your peers. So we have a few tips for you to keep in mind as you prep for your reunion.
1) Wear your own style.
Avoid the temptation to put on the fanciest dress in the store. Instead, wear something you feel comfortable in that helps you feel confident. If you do want to buy a new outfit, don’t go out too glam if that isn’t something you would feel your best in. Seek out a store stylist who can help you put together something that shows off your figure too (no matter what figure you have).
2) Get on top of dental care.
People can’t help but notice your teeth. So, visit the dentist and get those chompers fixed up, especially if you haven’t been in a while. Try out some teeth whitening trays such as Crest 3D White Strips a month or two before your reunion. Also cut back on things that stain your teeth as much as you can such as red wine and coffee.
3) Get healthy.
Starting a diet may be tempting, but if you are thinking about your reunion this early in the year, go for getting healthy instead. Drink more water, cut out sugar, and eat more fruits and vegetables. It’s pretty simple but a healthy lifestyle is the best way to feel good about yourself and look good. Start exercising regularly, join a workout class, and sign up for a short marathon run or walk. These approaches is more about just losing weight, it’s about feeling good about yourself too.
4) Start to de-stress.
One thing that ages all of us and will show up in photos is stress. If you are jumping into 2018 with a million things on your plate, and you are working at break neck speed, it’s time to slow down. Stress impacts us in a negative way and if you want to look and feel your best, cut back now. Have a day to yourself regularly where you aren’t piling on your to do list. Start saying no to projects. Go on long walks, listen to more music, and do more to relax regularly.
5) Stop the bad habits.
Drink too much? Smoke daily? Bite your nails? Have bad posture? Stop them as soon as you can. No matter what you wear, no matter how white your teeth are, no matter how much weight you lose, these bad habits are likely to stand out way more than you would like. Get on top of these now and recruit close friends or family to call you out for the bad behavior.
Getting ready for your high school reunion can be stressful, but make sure you also make it fun. It’s exciting to reconnect with people from your past so be sure to have a good time.
