7 Fun Camping Activities for Adults

Are you planning to go on a camping trip with your friends? Whether you are staying in an outdoor campsite or enjoying the luxuries of camping resorts, outlining the fun camping activities for your group beforehand is a wise thing for you to do because, as much as camping can be fun, it can as well become boring.

Camping is an excellent way of breaking from the monotony of your busy daily life as an adult. However, without incorporating some fun camping activities, you might end up having a slumber party instead. Fun camping activities for adults range from physical to mental. Let’s look at a few of these activities.

Below are seven different fun camping activities for adults:

1. Dance Off

This camping activity cuts across all age groups. The good thing about a dance-off is that it is not about who can better demonstrate the latest dance. It is about who entertains the crowd more. Actually, in most dance-offs, the one who does the silliest dance move ends up winning. This just goes to show that it is all about having fun.

The good thing about this activity is that you only need a phone or device that has access to music.

2. Scavenger Hunts

This is a classic camping activity for adults and kids. It involves going into the woods and trying to find interesting things. To make it even more interesting, pair up the campers into groups. Choose specific types of flowers or bugs for those groups to find. You can decide to reward the one who finds the items first.

3. Camping Olympics

Even though this activity is one of the most physically challenging, it is still a favourite for many people. These are especially fun camping activities for adults who enjoy physical exercise.

This is mostly attributed to the challenging nature of the activity. There are many variations of camping Olympics to choose from. You can map out a course for a relay race, or if there is a water body like a beach nearby, you can hold a swimming competition, etc. Set the difficulty of the activities according to the athletic ability of your group.

4. Glow-in-the-Dark Ring Toss

While you are planning stage the camping trip, remember to buy some glow-in-the-dark rings and sticks. You will need them for this activity. As soon as the sun starts to set, you can begin setting up this game.

First, find a water bottle. Next, take one of the glow sticks and put it in the water bottle so that it is visible. Give the remaining sticks to the other members of the group. Now, find an open area and place the bottle a few meters away from the group. Together with your friends, try to toss the glow-in-the-dark ring and get it to fall around the bottle in such a way that the water bottle will be in the middle of the ring.

5. Obstacle Course

This activity involves the use of both mental and physical strength. It is challenging but at the same time fun. The beauty of this camping activity is that it can always be modified depending on the items you bring with you, and you can use almost anything as an obstacle. The beach is an excellent location for this activity.

6. Name that Song

For this activity, you will need a portable speaker, or if there is a musician in the group, you can bring along a portable instrument such as the ukulele. This game is best enjoyed when the group is seated around a campfire.

The camping activity has been around for a long time and has many variations, but the basic idea is that the musician plays the tune of a particular song and the other campers have to guess which song it is before anyone else does. Whoever names the song first is declared the winner. If you are the one playing the song tunes, play songs that people in the group might have actually heard.

7. Murder by Winking

This is an exciting game. It is best enjoyed when one is seated around a campfire. It is played by picking one member of the group to act as the Godfather. Next, everyone else apart from the ‘’Godfather’’ should close their eyes. The ‘’Godfather’’ then goes around the circle and randomly picks the ‘’murderer’’ by gently tapping the person’s head. After that, everyone can open their eyes and continue with the conversation, but the person picked as the ‘’murderer’’ can kill or rather eliminate you from the game by winking at you.

Once eliminated, you can slump over or go inside the circle to avoid any confusion. If one of the other members happens to see the assassination happening, they can win the game by calling the ‘murderer’ out, but if they are wrong, they have to go inside the circle.

In most cases, the primary goal of a camp is to have fun by engaging in activities that turn your camping trip into a spectacle to remember for a long time.
